1829 – George Rupp was hired for $5.00 per year to keep the town’s fire apparatus in good working order.

1876 – Attendant George Kuhn became the first professional fireman responsible to get the fire equipment to the scene of a fire.

1891 – First full time employee is hired to be a driver for the Silsby steamer and care for Hanover’s fire horses.

1905 – Les Bowman is appointed as the first paid fire driver at the Eagle Fire Company #2 at the salary of $40.00 per month.

1963 – Fire drivers became Borough of Hanover employees.

September 1965 – The Hanover Borough drivers make $.86 per hour.

January 1966 – Paid drivers joined civil service commission.

April 1971 – Paid drivers became members of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local #2045.

March 1976 – Local #2045 became members of the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association (PPFFA).

April 2000 – Penn Township Emergency Services board hired three fire drivers.

May 2004 – Penn Township drivers became civil servants and became employees of Penn Township.

September 2007 – Penn Township drivers became members of IAFF Local #2045.

December 2014 – Penn Township Emergency Medical Service become members of IAFF Local #2045.

May 2015 – West Manheim Township Emergency Medical Service became members of IAFF Local #2045.
