    Today, B-Shift completed annual Pump Testing for the Department.  All Rigs 100% ready to serve Hanover/Penn.

  • Pump Training

    On this brisk Sunday afternoon crews from “A” shift were out doing some initial pump training for our newest recruit, Firefighter Kevin Keyser. The pump training consisted of using water from a positive water source (hydrant). His training consisted of single hand line, multiple hand lines and also master streams. His training will continue for multiple weeks covering all types of scenarios and operations before he is qualified to drive our engines!

    National Night Out!

    This evening members from Local 2045 participated in the 2017 National Night Out events. This years event was held in the parking lot of Target Outlet store on Wilson Avenue. Members of Local 2045 showed off our fire and emergency medical apparatus from Hanover Borough and Penn Township. A great showing from our community members, local and State officials, and surrounding communities made this years event a huge success. Thank you, Penn Township Police Department, for all the hard work in setting this event up!

    Early this evening, crews were alerted via the Gamewell system of a fire alarm at a local multi-use fitness facility. Crews checked a rooftop HVAC unit due to the alarm being reported as a duct detector activation. No problem was located in the facility or on the rooftop unit and crews cleared a short time later.

    Aerial Operations Course On Truck 46

    Today, HACC Instructor Sam Clark taught an Aerial Operations Refresher course utilizing the new Truck 46. The purpose of this day-long course was to cover the finer points of the unit’s operation such as work envelope, scrub zone, jacking operations, etc. Final equipment mounting and training is taking place and the unit is expected to enter frontline service in the very near future.

    Late this morning, Truck 49 transferred to Adams County Fire Station 1 (Gettysburg) as Company 1 and surrounding units worked a house fire in Straban Township. Truck 49 handled no calls for service in the hour they stood-by.

    C Shift crews took advantage of an extremely mild late winter day to conduct its regularly scheduled shift training. The new Truck 46 was utilized for aerial master stream operations refresher on Wilson Ave. The 2015 Sutphen SPH 100 is slated to enter service in the very near future.

    Winter Storm Preparations Continue

    2016012295192500[1]Winter storm preparations continue in the 2045 Local with staff installing chains on many of the department’s ambulances and select pieces of fire apparatus. Pictured is EMT Niner installing snow chains on Ambulance 49-3 which is located at the Clearview Station (FS 46-3). As the snow piles up, most frontline apparatus will be fitted with chains for traction. As a reminder, help us to help you and only travel if absolutely necessary during the blizzard conditions that are forecast for tonight and tomorrow.
