  • Building Fire at JF Rohrbaugh & Co.

     

    The Greater Hanover Area Fire Department along with several mutual aide departments battled a multiple alarm fire in Penn Township Thursday evening. Members were at a department training when a “header” became visible to the members. Chief 79 went to investigate and immediately requested the working fire assignment at JF Rohrbaugh & Co., a wooden pallet manufacturer.

    3 Alarm Fire on Baer Avenue

    Firefighters from all of Greater Hanover Area Fire Department along with several mutual aid departments battled a three alarm building fire early Saturday morning in the 500 block of Baer avenue in Penn Township. A mother and three children escaped the fire unharmed. Firefighters battled the fire for several hours.

    Training Day

    C-Shift firefighters are participating in a training day at the firehouse, today’s skill is repelling. This Saturday we will be repelling off buildings in preparation for a high angle rescue if the need should ever arise.

  • Electrical Fire In The Attic

    Firefighters from Penn Township and Hanover Fire Departments were dispatched for smoke in the attic at a private residence on Allegheny Avenue in Hanover Borough Monday. Chief 79 arrived to the odor of smoke and burning wood, but no smoke was visible. it was determined to be electrical in nature. Photos by EMS providers

  • Denver Drill Training

    Crews from Hanover and Penn Twp. Fire Departments conducted training Monday evening with our newest “Denver Drill” prop at the old Tanger’s Building on High Street. Multiple scenarios and techniques were practiced. By the end of the night, crews were performing a rescue in less than 2 1/2 minutes.

    SUV Runs Off Wilson Avenue

    Engine 49-2 from the Clearview Fire Station responded along with EMS from Penn Township to Wilson Avenue and Industrial Drive in Hanover Borough for a vehicle reported over a bridge and down an embankment. Engine 49-2 arrived to find Hanover PD with the driver of a SUV that ran off the roadway, down the embankment, over a traffic sign and came to rest sitting in the grass, no injuries to the occupant.

    Late this afternoon, Engine 49-1 assisted Pleasant Hill crews with a vehicle accident involving fire in the 1600 block of Baltimore Pike. Engine 49-1 arrived to find a minivan alongside the road, well involved. Engine 49-1’s crew, along with Pleasant Hill crews, extinguished the fire and overhauled the involved vehicle.     Non-Injury MVA On Baltimore Street

    A non-injury vehicle accident sent units to the area of Baltimore Street and Meadow Lane during the mid-morning hours. Engine 49-1 arrived to find a rollback and passenger vehicle involved, both off the roadway. The rollback narrowly missed a utility pole that contained multiple transformers and high tension lines. No injuries were found and Fire/EMS services were not needed.
