    Early this afternoon, Gamewell Box 18 was struck bringing first-alarm units (E49-1, E49-2, TRK 46, and EMS) to R. H. Sheppard on Philadelphia St. in Hanover Borough. Crews arrived to find a dust collector baghouse next to a machine on fire. Plant crews contained a majority of the fire with in-house dry chemical extinguishers. A 300′ pre-connect was advanced to knock down the remaining fire. Truck 46 checked the roof for fire extension with none being found. Incident Commander was Chief 49 (Cromer). No civilian or fire service injuries were incurred.

    Hanover Borough Mayor Ben Adams swears in newly hired probationary firefighter Adriel Garibay to the Hanover Fire Department. Garibay will start with the department on March 14, 2016 for orientation and then report to the HACC fire academy in Harrisburg March 15th for sixteen weeks.

    Around 19:30 hours on February 16th, first alarm units were alerted to the 500 block of Blooming Grove Road for a reported chimney fire. Assistant 49 (Cromer) arrived to find intermittent sparks coming from the chimney with no other conditions present. Crews cleaned out the fireplace fire box and checked the flue for blockage with none found. Units were placed in-service a short time later.

    Hanover Fire Department, along woth Penn Township EMS responded Saturday at 17:04 hours to York County Box 53-04 for a two car  auto accident with reported double entrapment on Moulstown Road near Old Hanover Road. Rescue 46 performed a door pop to free a female occupant who then self extricated. Two persons were transported to area hospitals.

    Penn Township WWTP Facility Tour

    PTDFRS/HFD C Shift gathered today for shift training at the Penn Township Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) on Wilson Avenue in Penn Township. Facility manager Bill Mahone showed crews all areas of the operations as well as pointing out target hazards.

    Hanover firefighter Steve Buhl works a snow blower clearing on of the many fire hydrants within the borough. All shifts have been busy clearing hydrants. We would appreciate any and all assistance clearing hydrants in your communties, every minute wasted puts everyones lives in danger.

    Utility 46 was utilized to assist getting nursing staff from Breezewood Drive to Hanover Hall this afternoon. Road conditions are still bad and the nursing staff are essential personnel, so we were happy to give them a lift.
