    Late this morning, Fire Station 49 was visited by a mother duck and her eight ducklings. They safely traversed the parking lot enroute to the nest without falling into the storm drain. Captain 46A (Spickler) was retained on stand-by in the event a duck rescue was needed.

  • Homewood Mens’ group tours FS 49

    This morning, Fire Station 49 staff hosted a tour for a Mens’ group from Homewood Living Community which is located in Penn Township. Captain Miller, FF Angel, and FF Brown gave a complete station tour explaining all facets of the operation to the roughly 35 attendees. The group was very inquisitive and impressed with our operation. FF Kemmerly from Fire Station 46 activated box 1223 from the Hanover Fire Museum so we could demonstrate how the Gamewell system operates.

    Penn Township firefighter Joe (Bam-Bam) Wysocki shows the children of Early Bloomers Day Care what a firefighter looks and sounds like when geared up to battle a fire. 

  • YWCA Summer Camp Tour

    YWCA summer camp children visited the Wirt Park Station today. Crews from “C” shift gave the children a tour of the fire station and equipment. Once that was done we went over fire safety items including some detectors, stop drop and roll, home fire drill procedures. Then firefighter Lalley dressed up in his fire gear and airpack to show the children what a firefighter looks like.

  • Headstart Tours Wirt Park

    A great visit from some local children excited and interested in the Fire Department! Always great to have fun with them while educating them as well.
