This Weather Is For The Ducks!

Late this morning, Fire Station 49 was visited by a mother duck and her eight ducklings. They safely traversed the parking lot enroute to the nest without falling into the storm drain. Captain 46A (Spickler) was retained on stand-by in the event a duck rescue was needed.  

Truck 49 Handles A Transfer To Adams County Fire Station 1

Late this morning, Truck 49 transferred to Adams County Fire Station 1 (Gettysburg) as Company 1 and surrounding units worked a house fire in Straban Township. Truck 49 handled no calls for service in the hour they stood-by.

Mild Winter Weather Equates To A Perfect Day For Training

C Shift crews took advantage of an extremely mild late winter day to conduct its regularly scheduled shift training. The new Truck 46 was utilized for aerial master stream operations refresher on Wilson Ave. The 2015 Sutphen SPH 100 is slated to enter service in the very near future.

Around 05:30 this morning, York County 911 contacted Station 49 to determine the capabilities of their foam trailer for an incident in Baltimore County, MD. Chimney Fire On Blooming Grove Rd.

Around 19:30 hours on February 16th, first alarm units were alerted to the 500 block of Blooming Grove Road for a reported chimney fire. Penn Township WWTP Facility Tour

PTDFRS/HFD C Shift gathered today for shift training at the Penn Township Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) on Wilson Avenue in Penn Township. Facility manager Bill Mahone showed crews all areas of the operations as well as pointing out target hazards.

Assistance To Hanover Hospital 

  Firefighters utilized the new Truck 46 today  helping Hanover Hospital maintenace personnel clear roof hatches so they could access heating units for the hospital. 

Fire Hydrant Clearing 

   Hanover firefighter Steve Buhl works a snow blower clearing on of the many fire hydrants within the borough. All shifts have been busy clearing hydrants. We would appreciate any and all assistance clearing hydrants in your communties, every minute wasted puts everyones lives in danger.
