  • Fire On East Chestnut Street

    Fire On East Chestnut Street

    Tuesday evening, Box 46-02 was dispatched for ” smoke in the area” of the 200 block of East Chestnut Street in Hanover Borough. As firefighters left the fire house on North Franklin Street, it became immediately clear this was a working fire as a heavy layer of smoke was all over the down town area. Units arrived to find smoke pushing from an attached block garage approximately 40×30 in size. The fire was upgrade to a working fire and then to a 2nd alarm assignment. Several mutual aid departments from York and Adams County assisted.

    On Saturday, many of the Hanover and Penn Township firefighters had the distinct pleasure of attending and witnessing one of our brother firefighters Brian McDerrmit and past Penn Township EMS provider Casey Fahringer get married. It was a beautiful wedding and we wish this wonderful couple many many years of happiness.

    Training Day

    C-Shift firefighters are participating in a training day at the firehouse, today’s skill is repelling. This Saturday we will be repelling off buildings in preparation for a high angle rescue if the need should ever arise.

  • Smoke In the House

     

    York County Box 46-05 was struck at 14:01 hours Thursday for a structure fire at 304 Centennial Avenue in Hanover Borough. Chief 79 and Hanover PD arrived on scene with a very light smoke condition in the residence. Engine 46-1 used an exhaust fan to clear the house of the smoke from burnt popcorn and small debris fire in the kitchen.

  • Electrical Fire In The Attic

    Firefighters from Penn Township and Hanover Fire Departments were dispatched for smoke in the attic at a private residence on Allegheny Avenue in Hanover Borough Monday. Chief 79 arrived to the odor of smoke and burning wood, but no smoke was visible. it was determined to be electrical in nature. Photos by EMS providers

    Automatic Alarm Becomes Working Fire

    Box alarm 083 was received via the Gamewell System in both Hanover and Penn Township Fire Stations at 04:58 hours Saturday morning. Units responded from all three stations to the IWM International facility at 500 East Middle Street in Hanover Borough. Engine 46-1 arrived with a working fire visible from the roof of the commercial structure. Captain 46-A requested the working fire assignment. The stubborn fire took several hours to completely contain.

    Firefighter Terry Smith is working his last tour as a career firefighter for Hanover Borough today. Firefighter Smith served the citizens of Hanover for thirty eight years and four months. IAFF Local 2045 wishes brother Smith a long, healthy and prosperous retirement, you earned it.
