    A-Shift firefighters from Station 79-1 responded with Truck 79 to a well involved house fire in Adams County on Irishtown Road early Sunday morning.

  • Moustown Road Crash

    Friday afternoon at 13:49 hours, fire and EMS responded to box 70-01 at the intersection of Moulstown Road and Moul Avenue for a multiple vehicle accident. Engine 79-3, Rescue 79 and 79 EMS handled the incident. Photos by 911 Photography

  • Building Fire at JF Rohrbaugh & Co.

     

    The Greater Hanover Area Fire Department along with several mutual aide departments battled a multiple alarm fire in Penn Township Thursday evening. Members were at a department training when a “header” became visible to the members. Chief 79 went to investigate and immediately requested the working fire assignment at JF Rohrbaugh & Co., a wooden pallet manufacturer.

    The tradition continues with firefighters standing by for the safety of our citizens while they enjoyed the annual Hanover 4th of July 

  • Members Honored

    Thursday evening, several members from Hanover Area Fire Rescue were honored for actions they were involved in that resulted in the  saving of firefighter and citizens lives from Hanover Borough and Penn Township over the past several years. Award presenters this evening included Fire Chief Tony Clousher, Assistant Chief Andy Crouse, EMS Chief Michael Smith and Retired Fire Commissioner James Roth.

    • EMS Providers Casey Smith and Tony Pandoli were honored for a successful CPR save of a citizen.
    • Captain Matt Barnes was honored for actions of removing a victim from a burning home on De Guy Ave
    • Capt. Barnes, FF Kaiser & FF Phillips were honored for the rescue of a victim of a home on De Guy Ave
    • FF Steve Kaiser was honored for successful rescue of man on a balcony of a burning home on Broadway
    • FF Joe Wysocki was honored for the removal of a male burn victim at house explosion on Baltimore St.
    • The entire C shift plus several volunteers were honored with unit citation for response to house explosion on Baltimore Street with burn victim.
    • Fire Police members Fred Ayers and Richard Angel were awarded for operating at an incident for several hours in sub zero temperatures.
    • FF James Startzel was honored for assistance in successful rescue of a fellow firefighter who fell through a floor at a working house fire on Broadway. 
    • FF Joe Wysocki and FF Jeff Parks were honored for their assistance in a successful rescue of a fellow firefighter who fell through a floor of a burning home on Broadway
    • Evening Sun Photographer Harrison Jones was recognized for his photography of department  incidents.
    • 911 Photography photographer Steve Roth was recognized for his photography and dedication to the department over the past ten years.

     

    Other members of the department were recognized this evening but could not attend included:

  • 3 Alarm Fire on Baer Avenue

    3 Alarm Fire on Baer Avenue

    Firefighters from all of Greater Hanover Area Fire Department along with several mutual aid departments battled a three alarm building fire early Saturday morning in the 500 block of Baer avenue in Penn Township. A mother and three children escaped the fire unharmed. Firefighters battled the fire for several hours.

    Mutual Aide Fire In Adams County

    Station 79 went to Adams County for a building fire at the Little Red Schoolhouse Restaurant on Race Horse Road in Conewago Township. Crews went to work on the single story commercial building fire smoke and fire visible on arrival.

    Goats, Dogs & Birds Rescued on Highland Avenue

    Firefighter McDermitt hands off to EMS personnel one of several dogs rescued today at a house fire on Highland Avenue. Two goats were also removed from the two story home. A great effort by the brothers in saving several family pets.

    East Walnut Street Fire

    Less than 12 hours after becoming The Greater Hanover Area Fire Rescue, firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at East Walnut and Fulton Streets in Hanover Borough. Heavy fire conditions on arrival took the fire to three alarms.
