Around 19:30 hours on February 16th, first alarm units were alerted to the 500 block of Blooming Grove Road for a reported chimney fire. Assistant 49 (Cromer) arrived to find intermittent sparks coming from the chimney with no other conditions present. Crews cleaned out the fireplace fire box and checked the flue for blockage with none found. Units were placed in-service a short time later.

United Hook and Ladder (Adams County FS 33) was gracious enough to loan use of their foricble entry simulator to the HFD/PTDFRS. This afternoon, C Shift crews (along with FF Wysocki from B Shift) made use of the simulator for their regularly scheduled tour of duty training. The forcible entry simulator allowed crews to refresh their skills on forcing inward and outward swinging doors using conventional forcible entry techniques. Additionally, crews were able to make use of the cutting station to refresh rotary saw cutting skills. All three Hanover and Penn shifts as well as volunteers have or will make use of the simulator prior to its return. A huge “Thank you” goes out to UH & L for allowing us use of this invaluable piece of equipment!
