  • Small Fire at Ross Orthodontics

    Thursday morning, Hanover and Penn Township Fire Departments along with Penn Township EMS responded to 135 Elm Avenue in Hanover Borough at Dr. David Ross Orthodontics for a reported basement fire. Units arrived on location with nothing showing from the exterior. Upon investigation, firefighters found cardboard boxes on fire caused by a battery operated drill over heating possibly. Firefighters carried the burning box outdoors and used a pressurized water extinguisher to knock the small fire. Units took up in about thirty minutes.

    Hanover & Penn Train With ATR

    SJR_3774Firefighter Sponseller of Hanover Fire Department works on cutting the concrete floor during ATR training exercises today at the old Faulkner Auto Dealership on Eisenhower Drive. Both Penn and Hanover Fire Depts. have been using this facility for training for several weeks before the building is demolished.

    Roof Ops & Stokes Basket Drills

    Hanover and Penn Townships career and volunteers were back at the old Faulkner Car Dealership on Eisenhower Drive again this evening for more training on cutting commercial building roofs as well as using a stokes basket to remove an injured person from atop a building via basket and ladder truck. Some good training on a skill we seldom get to do in our area.

    Firefighters from Hanover and Penn Township were alerted for the house fire at 1870 Smith Station Road in Heidelberg Township Thursday evening. Units arrived to smoke showing from the basement of a two story, single family dwelling.  Photos by EMT Casey Smith

    Department Training

    Volunteer and career firefighters from Penn Township and Hanover Fire Departments trained this evening on breaching walls and large area search techniques at the old car dealership on Eisenhower Drive beside Bay City. Over the next few months, many training sessions will be held in this building along with the old Pizza Hut before they are torn down making way for a strip mall of several businesses.  911 Photography Photos

    Battle Of The Badges Softball Game

    The semi-annual softball game between the career fire and EMS personnel of Hanover and Penn Township Fire Departments played the police departments of the same municipalities this afternoon with the “Hoses” winning the game 26-18. Plenty of hard hitting players on both sides made the game a lot of fun and interesting. We thank all the friends and families that came out to cheer us on. This is truly what Brotherhood is all about!

    Refreshing Patient Packaging Skills On “C” Shift

    “C” Shift crews spent some time this morning reviewing patient packing techniques such as placing a patient on a long backboard, using the KED device, and setting up the LSP half backboard. Thanks to Medic Christensen and EMT Stork for assisting us with this shift training!

    Late this morning, Fire Station 49 was visited by a mother duck and her eight ducklings. They safely traversed the parking lot enroute to the nest without falling into the storm drain. Captain 46A (Spickler) was retained on stand-by in the event a duck rescue was needed.

    Stack Fire at UTZ


    Truck 46 and Quint 29 prepare to go back in service after being alerted to UTZ Quality Foods on High Street in Hanover Borough for a fire on the roof. A fire was found in one of the stacks. The box was placed in service in about thirty minutes.
