Duplex Fire On Pumping Station Rd
Saturday morning, Stations 46 & 49 were alerted to a house fire on Pumping Station Road in West Manheim Township, Box 52-13. Units arrived to station 52 firefighters beginning an attack on a well involved duplex. As crews were battling this fire, Air 46 was involved in a crash while responding to the fire, sadly, the driver and only firefighter on board Early Shoemaker, died at Hanover Hospital after a tremendous effort by Penn Township EMS to save him. Early indications are our firefighter suffered a medical emergency while driving. Firefighter Shoemaker served the Eagle Fire Company #2 for 43 years as a volunteer.

Crews Make Quick Work Of Hanover Fire
Shortly before 21:00 hrs. on Monday evening March 7th, first alarm units were alerted for a report of a house on fire to the rear of 215 Carlisle St. in Hanover Borough. Hanover PD arrived first and confirmed a “fully-involved” structure to the rear. Engine 46-1 and Assistant 49 (Cromer) arrived to find a small two-story structure to the rear of 217 Carlisle St. with a well-involved first floor. E46-1 advanced a CAFS attack line and made swift work of the fire via an aggressive interior attack. Crews remained on-scene for a little over one hour conducting the investigation and overhauling the structure to look for remaining fire. Mutual-aid units on the “Working Fire Dispatch” included E52-2 (Pleasant Hill) and Adams County Rescue 33 (United). No civilian or fire service injuries were incurred. Gamewell Box 18

Early this afternoon, Gamewell Box 18 was struck bringing first-alarm units (E49-1, E49-2, TRK 46, and EMS) to R. H. Sheppard on Philadelphia St. in Hanover Borough. Crews arrived to find a dust collector baghouse next to a machine on fire. Plant crews contained a majority of the fire with in-house dry chemical extinguishers. A 300′ pre-connect was advanced to knock down the remaining fire. Truck 46 checked the roof for fire extension with none being found. Incident Commander was Chief 49 (Cromer). No civilian or fire service injuries were incurred. -

Cars Collide On Moulstown Road
Hanover Fire Department, along woth Penn Township EMS responded Saturday at 17:04 hours to York County Box 53-04 for a two car auto accident with reported double entrapment on Moulstown Road near Old Hanover Road. Rescue 46 performed a door pop to free a female occupant who then self extricated. Two persons were transported to area hospitals.

Winter Storm Preparations Continue
Winter storm preparations continue in the 2045 Local with staff installing chains on many of the department’s ambulances and select pieces of fire apparatus. Pictured is EMT Niner installing snow chains on Ambulance 49-3 which is located at the Clearview Station (FS 46-3). As the snow piles up, most frontline apparatus will be fitted with chains for traction. As a reminder, help us to help you and only travel if absolutely necessary during the blizzard conditions that are forecast for tonight and tomorrow. -

Working Fire In Penn Twp.
York County box 49-03 was alerted at 17:53 hours for a reported structure fire at 60 Bragg Street in Penn Township. Assistant Chief 49 requested a working fire assignment for heavy fire in the garage of a single family dwelling. Hanover and Penn Township firefighters made quick work of the fire. Working Fire In West Manheim
Hanover and Penn Township Fire Departments responded to York County Box 53-13 in West Manheim Township for a reported wood stove on fire in a structure. A working fire was sounded. Broadway Crash
This morning at 09:00 hours Saturday morning in light rainy conditions, Engines 46-1, Engine 46-2, Rescue 46, ambulance 49-3 and MICU 49-2 were dispatched to Box 46-1 to 800 block of Broadway, in Hanover Borough, for a vehicle accident with injuries. York County 911 advised of one mini van into a pole with 2 injuries. E49-2 arrived and found dispatch. Box was held too E49-2, Amb 49-3 and Fire Police with 2 minor injuries.
