Crews from Hanover and Penn Twp. Fire Departments conducted training Monday evening with our newest “Denver Drill” prop at the old Tanger’s Building on High Street. Multiple scenarios and techniques were practiced. By the end of the night, crews were performing a rescue in less than 2 1/2 minutes.

Hauling & Lowering Systems
Today’s “A” shift training was a construction worker that fell and was saved by his safety belay line. Crews went over three different ways to remove this employee from this situation. Crews used a 4:1, 3:1, and a 3:1 piggy back haul systems to raise the construction worker and then used a figure 8 and rappel rack to lower the victim to the ground where Emergency Medical Services took over patient care!

Public Education and Training
West Manheim Township Local 2045 members and Pleasant Hill Volunteers conducted yearly fire extinguisher training for staff at Little People Daycare on Fairview Dr. A display of Engine 52-2 was also set up for the kids to look at on Tuesday.

Acquired Training Continues!
Training continues on our acquired structures on Eisenhower Drive. This evening crews moved over to the old pizza hut building and went over vertical ventilation on peaked type roofs. Crews practiced doing ventilation cuts from ground ladders and also from the aerial trucks. At the end of training a few members decided to leave our mark on the building with our shift letter “A”!

Acquired Structure Training Continues!

Wednesday evening training took us inside the acquired structure. Tonight members from “A” Shift did forcible entry using the rotary disk saw. Crews trained on cutting latches and hinges on metal framed doors found on commercial type structures.

Hanover and Penn Township firefighters continue to training on our acquired structure on Eisenhower Driver. This evening members from “A” shift went over vertical ventilation on metal deck roof found on commercial structures. Our members are having a great training opportunity on this building to hone our skill on a building of this type!

Training Prevents Poor Performance
B-Shift along with several members from Station 52, Pleasant Hill Fire Department trained this evening on roof operations on a commercial building with steel roof, covered with foam insulation, rubber and river rock as well as breaching block walls with hand tools. Firefighters have been training on this acquired building in the borough of Hanover for several weeks now before it is demolished. Photos by 911 Photography
