    Engine 46-3 responded to Walmart parking lot for a vehicle leaking fuel. The crew mitigated the situation with stay dry and pig putty. Engine 46-1 and Deputy Chief 46 assisted with vehicle removal from the affected area.

    In Memory of

     IAFF Local 2045 is deeply saddened to learn the passing of our friend and colleague Michael Golden. Mike served as a paramedic with Hanover Hospitals Medic 46 and was a firefighter with the Anne Arundle County Fire Dept. in Maryland. Until we meet again our friend, rest in peace.

    Firemen Rescue Pigeon In the Borough

     

    Hanover Fire Department responded to assist the Hanover Police Department with rescuing a pigeon stuck in some webbing on an abandoned building on Frederick Street Thursday morning.  Acting shift commander Jim Startzel climbed the 24 foot extension ladder to free the bird. Firefighters are happy to report, once freed, the pigeon immediately took flight and flew away.

    Tony Clousher, Captain 46-B was promoted this evening to Deputy Fire Chief at the Hanover Borough Council Meeting. Katy, Tony’s daughter had the honor of pinning her fathers new badge on him while the Hanover Fire Department A and B shift firefighters looked on. Deputy Chief Clousher officially starts the new position Sunday, August 30th. His official designation will be Deputy Chief 46.

    Firefighters Jason Kopp of Station 49 and firefighter Charlie Hale of Station 46 are all smiles after a quick Friday night fire at New York Wire Company.

    Our usual Friday night box alarm for New York Wire Company came in at 16:54 hours. Engine 46-1 arrived on location  and reported  “smoke showing from the north tower again”. The crews of Engine 46-1 and Truck 49 found a small fire in the powder coating tower. A Dry chemical extinguisher was used by the engine company to extinguish the small fire. The assignment was held to the initial dispatch companies.

    Captain Miller (49-C) and firefighter Jeff Cramer have a coffee while on over night fire watch duty at the  Carlisle Street fire. Hoarder conditions in the structure warranted the detail in case there was a deep seated fire that was unnoticed.
