    New York Wire Fire

     

    Our usual Friday night box alarm for New York Wire Company came in at 16:54 hours. Engine 46-1 arrived on location  and reported  “smoke showing from the north tower again”. The crews of Engine 46-1 and Truck 49 found a small fire in the powder coating tower. A Dry chemical extinguisher was used by the engine company to extinguish the small fire. The assignment was held to the initial dispatch companies.

    Captain Miller (49-C) and firefighter Jeff Cramer have a coffee while on over night fire watch duty at the  Carlisle Street fire. Hoarder conditions in the structure warranted the detail in case there was a deep seated fire that was unnoticed. 

  • 3 Alarms On Carlisle Street

    3 Alarms On Carlisle Street

     

    Just before 12:00 hours Thursday morning, Box 46-05 was struck for the structure fire at 229 Carlisle Street for a fire in a laundry room. The fire quickly extended, eventually going three alarms.

  • Homewood Mens’ group tours FS 49

    This morning, Fire Station 49 staff hosted a tour for a Mens’ group from Homewood Living Community which is located in Penn Township. Captain Miller, FF Angel, and FF Brown gave a complete station tour explaining all facets of the operation to the roughly 35 attendees. The group was very inquisitive and impressed with our operation. FF Kemmerly from Fire Station 46 activated box 1223 from the Hanover Fire Museum so we could demonstrate how the Gamewell system operates.

    Hanover and Penn Township firefighters battled this house Sunday evening on Collins Circle. Early indications are the home owners gas grill on the back porch caught fire and extended to the home. It does appear the home is a total loss. Several departments assisted for mutual aid.

  • Debris removal on W. Granger St.

    Debris removal on W. Granger St.

    Shortly after noon, Engine 49-1, Utility 49, and Ambulance 49-3 handled an unknown injury motor vehicle accident on W. Granger St., just west of the Beck Mill Rd. intersection. E49-1 handled fluid control and debris removal while A49-3 evaluated the patient for possible injury. Units cleared a brief time later.

    Penn Township and Hanover Fire Departments responded to assist Pleasant Hill Fire Dept on Vegas Drive for a possible electrical fire this afternoon.

    Firefighters and EMS members of Local IAFF 2045 are out again today collecting  donations for the MDA Fill The boot Drive. We are located on Eisenhower Drive at the Red Lobster intersection, as well as both entrances to the entrances to the Grandview Plaza shopping center on Baltimore Street. Help us reach our commitment of $10,000.00. As always, thank you for contributing.

  • Trailer Fire At Utz

    Trailer Fire At Utz

     

    Just after 06:00 hours Saturday morning, Hanover and Penn Township firefighters responded to UTZ Quality Foods on Broadway for a trailer on fire. Engine 49-2 arrived to smoke showing from a trailer full of snack food waste product. Firefighters began removing material from the trailer to get to the seat of the smoldering fire.

    Engine 49-2,  Ambulance 49-3 and Car 46 handled a small brush fire in the parking lot near the Giant store on Eisenhower Drive Thursday afternoon.
