Just after 06:00 hours Saturday morning, Hanover and Penn Township firefighters responded to UTZ Quality Foods on Broadway for a trailer on fire. Engine 49-2 arrived to smoke showing from a trailer full of snack food waste product. Firefighters began removing material from the trailer to get to the seat of the smoldering fire.

Hanover Borough and Penn Township have started the process of creating a list of potential candidates to become career firefighters for Hanover Borough and/or Penn Township. All applicants must be a United States citizen and/or legal alien of this country, 21 years of age, high school graduate (or equivalent), and driver’s license to apply for these positions. If you are interested application can be obtained from Penn Township, 20 Wayne Avenue, Hanover PA 17331 or downloaded and printed out from the link below. Application process will be closed at the end of business day on September 1, 2015. A copy of your driver license and a non-refundable application fee of $50.00 must be submitted with the completed application. The testing will be in accordance with the rules and regulations of both Civil Service Commission.
Station 46 firefighters took the apparatus to the Gutherie Memorial Library in Hanover Borough Friday morning for about seventy-five children to explore the fire apparatus and get some valuable life saving fire prevention skills and information. Firefighter Startzel read a book to the children, while Captain Clousher played a game of “who wore it better” plastic fire helmets with one little boy.
Hanover and Penn Township Fire Departments dispatched for a reported vehicle fire in the 300 block of Dart Drive Wednesday afternoon. Engine 49-2 and Truck 46 arrived to find a well involved car fire.
