Captain Clousher (46-B) directs operations at a working fire at 972 Carlisle Street early Wednesday morning. Stations 46 & 49 were alerted at 02:11 hours for a house fire with people trapped. Truck 46 arrived to smoke showing to the rear of the two story occupied duplex, captain 46-B requested the working fire assignment immediately. Quick work by the crew of Truck 46 in locating and assisting six residents including five children to safety from apartment 972 1/2. The crew from Engines 46-3 and Engine 49-1 advanced hand lines to the second floor finding a small fire in the wall of the rear bedroom and extending. Truck 46’s crew went to the roof but didn’t need to make a cut, fire was under control by that time. Initial investigation indicates point of origin to be back wall near a electrical outlet. Chief 49 had command.

Early Morning Carlsile Street Fire

RIT Goes To New Oxford Fire

B Shift was awakened around 03:00 hours Thursday morning to assist Adams County company 33 on a working basement fire on New Chester Road. Engine 46-1 and Rescue 49 were alerted for the RIT assignment. While en-route, a MAY Day was called on the scene for a firefighter that had fallen through the floor into the basement. The fire fighter self extricated himself with minor injuries. Both units crews stood by on fire ground until released by command 33.

Another Friday night fire at Hanover Wire Cloth on Middle Street brought a box alarm. Truck 49 operates as companies brought the fire under control within thirty minutes. -

Christmas Day Auto Fire
Firefighter B. McDerrmit takes the window of a Dodge Ram pickup on the parking lot of Apple Dodge, 200 Eisenhower Drive on Christmas Day. B-shift ran two previous runs throughout the day prior to this small electrical fire. Captain Spickler was working overtime with B-Shift. The fire was handled by Engine 49-2 and Engine 46-1. -
Burnt Chicken Gets FD Response
Just as lunch was ready Friday afternoon, after a busy morning, Box 46-05 was dispatched for the FIRE ALARM at 201 Filbert Street in Hanover Borough. Engine and Truck 46 arrived to find nothing visible from the exterior of a one story single family structure. Captain Spickler, (working over), investigated and found a elderly female resident saying she burnt her chicken. A like smelly smoke condition was throughout. Positive Pressure Ventilation was used and the box was placed in service within fifteen minutes. -
Commercial Building Fire
Friday morning, just after shift change at 07:44 hours, York County Box 49-03 was struck for the commercial building fire on Black Rock Road, just off Baltimore Street at the old Cold Storage Facility, the scene of a working for nearly one year prior on 9-27-13 (photo here). From the square of Hanover, Truck 46’s captain Spickler (working over) reported a large column of black smoke was visible. Engine 49-1 arrived, under the command of Captain Miller, reporting a working fire, and requesting a second alarm right away. The fire was through the roof on side Alpha, and the wall was showing signs of buckling, the fire was ordered to defensive operations shortly after arrival. Garage and Auto Fire
At 04;19 Saturday morning, York County Box 46-01 was struck for a vehicle fire in Hanover Borough to the rear of 501 Moul Avenue in the alley. Shortly after dispatch, York County 911 upgraded the assignment to a structure fire with a reported garage on fire. Engine 49-2 out of the Clearview Station several blocks away arrived within three minutes of dispatch reporting “we have a small garage off”,
